About the role:

 

As our Accounts Receivable Team Leader, you’ll guide and support a small team to deliver accurate billing, proactive collections, and effective credit control. You’ll play a key role in protecting cash flow, reducing overdue debt, and giving senior management clear insight into customer accounts. You’ll also champion continuous improvement, working with Finance, Commercial, and IT to streamline processes, enhance systems and maintain accurate data. This is a chance to combine leadership with hands-on impact, driving both team performance and financial results.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Lead and develop the Accounts Receivable team, ensuring accurate billing, proactive collections, timely query resolution, and strong customer service.
  • Drive debt recovery and minimise aged receivables through effective credit control, risk assessments
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and IT to ensure credit and data processes support business needs.
  • Oversee invoice accuracy, compliance with contracts, and regular reporting on aged debt, cash collection forecasts, and credit risk to senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain oversight of customer and supplier master data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness through regular reviews, quality checks, and governance best practices.
  • Champion process improvements and automation, working with Finance, IT, and Operations to optimise systems (including Microsoft Dynamics 365) and deliver scalable, efficient processes.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for collections, data accuracy, and team performance, embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, data protection, and external regulatory standards, while driving innovation and efficiency across AR and credit processes.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience leading Accounts Receivable functions, with a track record of reducing aged debt and improving cash flow.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop finance teams.
  • Solid knowledge of B2B invoicing, collections, credit risk management, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working across teams and senior levels.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in master data governance, financial controls, or process improvement (automation, ERP enhancements, reporting).
